Do feel like you have a stronger intuition than others – something you could only describe as an “inner knowing?” You might just possess the gift of claircognizance.
Have you ever watched the movie The Sixth Sense?
If so, chances are you may know a little bit about extrasensory perception. The film features a little boy who’s able to communicate with the dead through his supernatural abilities.
While The Sixth Sense is a fictional story, there are many real people, known as “claircognizant empaths” who have these abilities.
It may not be exactly the same as the little boy in the movie, but there are many people who possess the gift of claircognizance.
If you feel like that might be you, you’re curious to learn more about claircognizance or you’re looking for claircognizant exercises to develop your abilities, read on.

What Is Claircognizance?
Claircognizance is the ability to absorb psychic knowledge through an intuitive state of inner-knowing, beyond the use of the five senses.
We use our five senses every day: sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell.
These emit information to our brains allowing us to navigate life, enjoying all of the little pleasures along the way.
Our senses can also protect us, alerting us when something is amiss or we’re in danger.
A claircognizant, though, possesses psychic abilities beyond these physical senses.
Claircognizant’s access an intuitive state of inner-knowing. They have an innate, more profound feeling about things.
This gift will aid you with an ability to absorb knowledge on a level a non-claircognizant person cannot.
If you think you may have the gift of claircognizance, I recommend getting a free 5-minute psychic reading to gain insights about your gift and how to develop your abilities.
Whether you’re already claircognizant, or merely developing your abilities, you’ll most likely have questions, such as the meaning of claircognizance.
The word itself derives from the 17th-century French word “clair,” meaning “clear,” and “conoissance” meaning “knowledge,” thus, “clear-knowing.”
A claircognizant may hold a heightened sense of awareness, which allows the “other side” to send them direct thoughts.
They’re simply more open, thus susceptible to psychic communication.
Divine claircognizant guidance also comes from within.
It may be because your crown chakra is wide open. This binds you to a higher consciousness, where psychic energies and forces travel through.
So how do you know if you possess this talent?
The first step in your claircognizance journey is recognizing and embracing your abilities. Here are some signs that you are claircognizant:
- Accurate intuition or knowing
- Left brained
- Analytical skills
- Correct predictions of the future
If you have any of these signs then a free 5-minute professional reading with a psychic is the best way to confirm your abilities.
1. Intuition or Knowing
This extrasensory perception can show up as a sudden “aha” moment – you’ll have an immediate notion of clarity or transparency about an idea or thought. It may feel as if it came out of nowhere, but don’t be mistaken.
You might hear people referring to this as a “gut feeling.” It can be an intuitive piece of information or idea that arrives suddenly in your brain. A claircognizant person experiences this consistently throughout their lives and it’s a big indication you have the gift of claircognizance.
2. Left Brained vs Right Brained
This lateralization could play a part in whether you possess claircognizant abilities. You may have already know which side of the brain you excel at the most, but there’s more to it than that.
If you’re a right-brained individual you will likely succeed in creative and artistic endeavors. Your visuospatial processing (your ability to understand the differences and similarities between objects) would also fall under this category.
On the other hand, if you’re left-brained you tend to think more laterally, excelling in things like mathematics and logic. You might find this surprising, but left-brained people are more likely to be claircognizant than right-brained people.
3. Analytical Skills
Do you feel as though you were born with a natural curiosity about the world? This could play out as an instinctive urge to analyze or deconstruct things, from simple matters to larger, more complex problems.
If you have claircognizant abilities, you will have a strong desire to comprehend your surroundings, environment, and yourself. You will occupy your time with a multitude of thoughts, theories, and ideas (you might feel like it’s difficult to quiet your mind at times!)
If you find yourself nodding your head right now, thinking “this is definitely me,” don’t simply brush it off as a personality trait.
4. Correct Predictions of the Future
Do you often form strangely accurate predictions of the future?
If you ask a professional psychic, they will tell you that people with claircognizant capabilities often experience instances in which they accurately predict the outcome of future events.
They’ll have the ability to do this with no information beforehand. (This is one of the first signs I personally had – I actually saw my friend’s car getting broken into about an hour before it happened – unfortunately I was unable to reach him to warn him.)
How I Developed My Own Extrasensory Abilities
If you’re anything like I was, you have an inkling that you were blessed with psychic or extrasensory abilities, but you’re not completely sure. And of course, if you DO have these abilities, you want to know how to develop them. To help you on your journey, I’m going to share what helped me in my own journey.
The first thing I did was consult with a professional psychic who was able to help me recognize and confirm my abilities.
Psychics are very attuned to other people and their abilities, so I definitely recommend consulting with a psychic if you suspect you may be claircognizant. Here’s the link for a free 5-minute psychic reading.
Once I had confirmed that I did have extrasensory abilities, I got a book my psychic recommended. It’s called “100 Days of Psychic Exercises” and it leads you through 100 prompts that help you develop your extrasensory abilities.
It’s an audiobook that you can listen to for free if you have Audible. If you don’t have Audible, click here for a free 30-day trial.
I also attended a Clairvoyant Meditation 101 Live online class.

The gift of claircognizance can be merely recognized and accepted, but it can also be developed further. Developing your skills can help you assist others for good.
You can develop this unique skill, strengthening and mastering it along the way, with a variety of claircognizant development exercises and techniques including:
- Automatic writing
- Zener cards
- Spirit guides
- Engage your brain
- Tai Chi
1. Automatic Writing
Automatic writing, also known as “spirit writing” or “psychography,” is a psychic technique that will help you access your unconscious mind. The infamous Sigmund Freud coined this term and it refers to anything that can’t make its way to our conscious awareness.
This writing practice might feel strange at first, but you’ll get used to it with repetition.
Sit calmly with a pen and paper and try to clear any thoughts from your mind. Now simply write whatever comes up. Don’t worry about spelling mistakes, grammar, etc – just let the words flow onto the page.
Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t make sense initially. You might find jumbled words or incomplete sentences since your unconscious mind isn’t sorting out structure or grammar.
Frequent practice of automatic writing can strengthen your ability to access claircognizant thoughts. It can also enhance your creativity and provide balance, among other benefits.
A regular meditation habit can significantly enhance your gift of inner-knowing.
The practice of being mindful, or in the present moment, enhances mental awareness. Studies have shown that it also decreases your blood pressure offering a sense of calmness, amongst other benefits.
In turn, you’ll reach a state in which you can tap into your higher self and become more open to spiritual guidance. You might be wondering what kind of meditation is best for this?
There are so many meditative techniques available and most of them can be useful in deciphering your claircognizant abilities.
Here’s something you can try – just follow these simple steps:
- Seek out a quiet, clean space free from distractions.
- Sit comfortably and become still. Clear your mind.
- Take several deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.
- Recognize the tension and any sensations in each part of your body.
- Remain in a place of non-judgment, only noticing the process instead.
3. Zener Cards
Another way to develop claircognizance is by using Zener cards. Zener cards are based on the cards used by psychologists to conduct experiments on a subject’s ESP skills.
They’ll also give you a fun way to explore the paranormal with friends. These cards consist of:
- 25 cards per deck
- Five cards for every five symbols including a circle, square, star, cross and three parallel waves
Upon drawing, you hold up a card with its back to the other. You then must guess which card was drawn. Place the correctly-guessed duos aside and keep working at it until you improve.
A claircognizant empath should have faith in their inner-knowing and not hesitate on the answer. The pattern of correct answers could suggest strong claircognizance.
Zener cards can be purchased for a very reasonable price here.
4. Spirit Guides
Spirit guides are ethereal, universal forces that can take on a variety of forms such as angels, mythical creatures, ancestors, or ancient gods. One way to increase and strengthen your inner-knowing is to invite them to communicate with you.
Ask for their counsel and direction, then be patient and listen.
Watch for signs from your spirit guides like repeating numbers – angel numbers 1111 and 444 are common angel numbers to be aware of.
You can also write to your spirit guides in the form of journaling.
Visualization techniques can also aid in claircognizant development. One way to do this is to sit calmly and quietly and visualize your inner-knowing abilities. Pay attention to what comes up.
Other visualization exercises include the use of serene images or environments such as bodies of water, mountains, or any picture of your choosing. Pay attention to the details and note any sensations that arise.
Yoga can be a compelling way to reach spiritual awakening and allow your mind access to ideas beyond your conscious self. Remember, though, there is a multitude of options from more physical styles like vinyasa to more contemplative methods like yin.
One style, in particular, that is helpful in developing claircognizance is Kundalini yoga. It comes from the tantra yoga practices and can be used to awaken resting energies that have been dormant otherwise.
Yogi Bhajan brought this practice to the Western world and it focuses on immersive elements of breathing, chanting, and meditation. Energy is drawn up through the spine and into your seven chakras.
Kundalini Yoga Mantras
Several mantras or phrases for chanting, used in Kundalini include:
Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo: This is the Adi mantra. It’s chanted three times at the beginning of every Kundalini practice. It translates to “I call upon divine wisdom.” This mantra allows you to connect with your inner wisdom.
Sat Nam: Known as the Seed mantra, the most utilized mantra in Kundalini yoga. It translates to “truth is my essence” or “I am truth.” This is chanted to awaken your inner soul.
Ong So Hung: This mantra translates to “creator, I am thou.” It helps to empower you and enhance awareness.
Ad Guray Nameh: Can also be known as the Mangala Charan mantra. It enhances mental clarity and helps you find your higher self.
Use these mantras as a repetitive meditation practice, chanting them over and over again.
7. Engage the Brain
You can increase your claircognizance by offering your mind and body stimulation.
Take another look at some math problems or try to solve the crossword puzzle in your morning newspaper. Pick up a new book at the library and test yourself on what you read.
Other simple yet fun ways to do this include:
- Picking up a new sport, like tennis or football
- Playing board games with friends
- Enrolling in an art or craft class such as painting or flower arranging
Your mental clarity will improve and, in turn, will allow you to access more of your deep-seated intuition.
8. Tai Chi
If you’re looking for a gentle yet movement-based practice to awaken your inner-knowing, why not try Tai Chi? This Chinese martial art form is considered a “moving meditation.”
“Chi” is the vital energy that we all have in our bodies and the practice aims to activate this energy.
Tai Chi’s low-impact style is a proven wellness exercise with all kinds of benefits. Studies show it can improve breathing, composure, and strength, among other faculties.
A few common Tai Chi styles include:
The Yang style of Tai Chi is the most well-known form. It can be traced back to the 1800s, established by a man named Yang Lu-ch’an.
One of the reasons it’s so popular is that it’s suitable for a wide variety of people with different bodies and circumstances.
The practice consists of 108 movements, with 37 different postures. It’s possible to slow down or extend the duration of the exercise, depending on your abilities.
Hao-style Tai Chi is a little more obscure; its movements are advanced compared to some of the others. Mastering it can bring calmness and provide access to subtle energies within.
Try to opt for a style that’s comfortable for your body and not too strenuous. The aim is not to tire yourself out, but to find self-awareness and improve your claircognizant abilities.

2 thoughts on “Claircognizance: What It Is & How To Tell If You’re Claircognizant”
Hi. I have signs that I’m both clairaudient and clairsentient. The spiritual voices and conversations occur in my dreams. I can astral project and lucid dream as well. I’ve only recently started taking this seriously and accepting that this is more than just dreaming and I’m not crazy. However with all of the bustling I’m having problems sorting out what is guides or lost loved ones or prophetic messages. It all feels chaotic and I don’t know how to isolate one at a time. Everything that comes to me is in pieces. Can you advise me on how to sort it out? I’m still new at meditations so it doesn’t help much right now.
Thanks for reaching out!
When you first start recognizing that you have spiritual gifts like clairsentience/clairaudience it can all feel a bit overwhelming and chaotic – that’s completely normal.
The first thing I recommend doing is consulting with a professional psychic to gain some further insights and clarity around your gifts. Check out this page for a link to get a free 5-minute reading: https://highvibeshaven.com/manifestation-journal-thank-you/
Meditation can be difficult to start with, but it’s like anything else in life – the more you practice, the better you will get. I recommend you keep at it – start with just 5 minutes a day and if you commit to that, you’ll start to notice that you’re able to focus your mind more easily.
I also recommend you pick up a copy of the 100 Psychic Exercises book that I mentioned in this article – that will go a long way in helping you develop your abilities.
I hope that helps!
